The event, which was held at the iconic Dominion Theatre, home to top west end show ‘We Will Rock You’, was expertly hosted by Gaby Roslin and John Partridge with Toby Anstis and Kate Copstick reporting live from the red carpet and backstage. There were celebrity judges on hand to offer their critique in the expert form of Hollywood actress, Stefanie Powers; Radio legend Tony Blackburn and West End superstar Kerry Ellis, who also provided an impromptu performance of the Queen classic ‘Somebody to Love’ to a very appreciative audience during some small technical issues.

International recording artist and television personality Javine Hylton provided a fabulous interlude when she reprised her UK entry ‘Touch My Fire’.

Whilst the cast of Sweeney Todd won the best overall performance and best creative awards, The award for Best Ident was won by by the London cast of Les Miserables.

All in all the show was another shining achievment for the entertainment industry charity which continues to pack a punch with top quality productions, showcasing the best the theatre industry has to offer whilst raising funds to really help Make A Difference!

An Irvine DJ helped raise money for The Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) at a fundraiser held on May 5, 2012. The Glass Slipper Gala theme was “The Kid In All Of Us” and included many auction items, including a party package that included DJ Craig and his Touchscreen DJ System.

After the poolside silent auction, guests were invited to make their way under the tent where a posh dinner party and live auction awaited. The live auction reached a fever pitch when the party package was announced. The bidding was intense and when the gavel finally came down, the winning bidder had pledged 6,500 dollars. The entire package included party planning, catering, lighting and disc jockey.

The annual gala serves to raise money for children that suffer from life threatening diseases. CHOC is a leader in cutting edge treatments and is planning to build a new, multi-million dollar addition to the main hospital.

DJ Craig said, “I am so glad my donation is able to help this cause that provides hope to so many kids and their families every year.” Prior to the live auction, DJ Craig displayed his interactive 42 inch touchscreen as onlookers watched him use it to mix music. The gala had several hundred attendees that were there to help the Guild reach its one million dollar pledge to children in need. All proceeds from the event go towards building a new 6,400 square foot, post anesthesia care unit slated to open in 2013.

Prevent gum disease and avoid a broken heart

Fresh breath is a must on Valentine’s Day and not just for kissing – gum disease and mouth bacteria are increasingly being linked to heart problems, warn oral health experts from Eludril and Elgydium.

Gum disease can literally break your heart. There is growing evidence that gingivitis can increase the risk of cardiac problems.

Scientists have published a number of theories that link gum disease with heart conditions, say the manufacturers of Eludril medicinal mouthwash and Elgydium toothpaste.

Research presented to the Society for General Microbiology has shown how bacteria can enter the bloodstream through sore gums and then go on to create a clot-forming protein.

The research was carried out by scientists from the University of Bristol in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Their findings pointed to Streptococcus bacteria which are responsible for causing tooth plaque and gum disease.

“These Streptococcus bacteria can get into the bloodstream and create a protein which causes blood platelets to stick together and clot,” said a spokesman for oral health experts from Eludril and Elgydium.

“The research followed a Scottish study of more than 11,000 people – those who did not brush their teeth twice a day were more likely to suffer from heart disease.”

Three years ago a team from the University of Kiel in Germany discovered a genetic link between gum disease and heart attacks.

They found a gene mutation in cardiac patients that was also present in people with people with periodontitis. Significantly, both conditions involve common risk factors: smoking, obesity and diabetes.

The Kiel researchers urged people with gum disease to get it treated as early possible – a warning echoed by the oral health specialists from Eludril and Elgydium.

They are urging people to watch out for gum disease symptoms because they could be a prelude to more serious conditions elsewhere in the body:

    swollen gums, inflammation and soreness are all early symptoms
    bleeding gums indicate that gum disease has been present for some time and has been ignored
    receding gums – a problem that can eventually lead to tooth loss or removal in the worst cases.

Preventing and treating gum disease is not difficult. Good oral health begins with regular brushing and flossing but this is not enough.

Regular dental checks are important if gum disease is to be identified early on and treated before it can cause pain, a receding gum line or tooth loss.

Dentists have for several decades recommended chlorhexidine as the leading gingivitis treatment. It is one of the key ingredients in Eludril mouthwash and Elgydium toothpaste.

Eludril mouthwash is a short-term treatment for gum disease. Dental professionals recommend a 15ml dosage (for adults and children aged over 6) diluted with lukewarm water using the measuring cup provided.

So I’ve always had low iron levels, i went to the doctor about 8 months ago and had an iron level of 31, I did a series of iron injections and am on very strong iron supplements now, I don’t know whether that could’ve affected my infertility…

I also contracted chlamydia about 2 years ago, but treated it straight away, Ive heard scaring from this could cause infertility but I didn’t have it for very long…

My periods aren’t very regular and usually only last 2-3 days, at the most, they’re also generally pretty far apart…

My partner has not taken a sperm test yet but he has a family history of high fertility and has a HUGE family. Theres no reason he should be infertile.

Now that I’m starting to think about my future and future children, i want to be able to know that I CAN have them when I wish.

Please no naggy, preachy mothers… Ive already got one… I’m looking for some medical facts and possibilities from someone who is a doctor maybe? or has experience with infertility?

This is the one that stands out to me. Irregular menstruation accounts for up to 40% of cases of infertility. Having irregular periods often indicates that you aren’t ovulating.

You definitely need to see a doctor to discuss this matter and have necessary tests done.

It can be treated with fertility drugs, but is important to be evaluated for other conditions that could interfere with ovulation
