There is only one way to incorporate healthy foods into our diet and that is to make the decision to do it! Practical information about the nutrition and safety of the foods we consume is absolutely vital in making this decision.    cardinal way to learn more about what we eat, is to snoop around the supermarket. Read the information on the package and start making comparisons to determine which foods are the best for YOU. Know about nutritional labeling and the sometimes sneaky ways that manufacturers have of hiding what is in the food. Know and understand ingredient declarations, how they are used, and what a few of the &quot;technical&quot; terms mean. Are the unfamiliar ingredients good or bad for your health?    Since 1994 food manufacturers have been required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to include food labels (or Nutrition Facts labels) on product packaging so that consumers have accurate nutritional information about the food they purchase. But food labels are more than just a national requirement – once you understand the information they provide, you can use food labels as a guide to planning better meals and snacks.    Food labels are necessary on almost all foods, except those that don&#039;t provide galore nutrients such as coffee, alcohol and spices. Although some restaurants provide information about the food they serve, they aren&#039;t necessary to have labels. The FDA recommends that sellers provide nutritional information on produce, meat, poultry and seafood, but it&#039;s strictly voluntary.    What Is a Serving?    At the top of a food label under Nutrition Facts, you&#039;ll see the serving size and the number of servings in the package. The rest of the nutrition information in the label is supported on one serving.    Calories, Calories From blubbery and Percent Daily Values    This part of a food label provides the calories per serving and the calories that come from fat. If you need to know the total number of calories you eat every day or the number of calories that come from fat, this section provides that information. Remember that this part of the label doesn&#039;t tell you whether you are eating saturated or monounsaturated fat.    On the right side of a food label, you&#039;ll see a column that lists percentages. These percentages refer to the percent daily values (%DV). Percent regular values tell you how more of something, whether it&#039;s fat, sugar or vitamin A, cardinal serving will give you compared to how much you need for the entire day. It will help you gauge the percentage of a nutrient requirement met by one serving of the product. One way to use this section of the label is when you comparison shop. For example, if you&#039;re concerned with sodium, you can look at two foods and choose the food with the lower % DV. Are you trying to eat a low-fat diet? Look for foods that have a lower percent regular value of fat.    The DV is supported on how much or how little of the key nutrients you should eat whether you eat 2,000 or 2,500 calories a day. So if you eat a 2,000-calorie diet, you should eat less than 65 grams of fat in complete the foods you eat for the day. If you&#039;re eating 12 grams of fat in your one serving of macaroni and cheese (remember that&#039;s cardinal cup), you can calculate how much fat you have left-handed for the day. You can use the bottom part of the food label in albescent to compare what you are eating to the  DV you&#039;re allowed for that nutrient, whether it&#039;s fat, sodium or fiber. If you need much or less than 2,000 or 2,500 calories, you&#039;ll need to adjust this accordingly.    Nutrients    Fat, Sugar, Sodium and Carbohydrate    The sections on a food label shows the name of a wholesome and the amount of that nutrient provided by one serving of food. You may need to know this information, especially if you have high blood pressure, diabetes or are eating a diet that restricts definite nutrients such as sodium or carbohydrates.    Food labels also include information about how much sugar and protein is in the food. If you are following a low-sugar diet or you&#039;re monitoring your protein intake, it&#039;s easy to spot how much of those nutrients are contained in cardinal serving.    Vitamins, Minerals and Other Information    The light chromatic part of the label lists nutrients, vitamins and minerals in the food and their percent daily values. Try to normal 100% DV every day for vitamins A and C, calcium, iron and fiber. Do the opposite with fat, saturated fat, sodium and cholesterol. Try to eat less than 100% DV of these.    Common Mistakes to Avoid When Reading a Food Label    Until you become accustomed to reading food labels, it&#039;s easy to become confused. Avoid these common mistakes when reading labels:    -A label may say that the food is reduced blubbery or reduced sodium. That means that the amount of blubbery or sodium has been shrunken by 25% from the creative product. It doesn&#039;t mean, however, that the food is debased in fat or sodium. For example, if a can of soup originally had 1,000 milligrams of sodium, the reduced sodium product would still be a high-sodium food.    -Don&#039;t confuse the DV for fat with the percentage of calories from fat. If the  DV is 15% that doesn&#039;t mean that 15% of the calories comes from fat. Rather, it means that you&#039;re using up 15% of all the fat you need for a day with cardinal serving (based on a meal plan of 2,000 calories per day).    -Don&#039;t make the mistake of forward that the amount of sugar on a label means that the sugar has been added. For example, milk naturally has sugar, which is called lactose. But that doesn&#039;t mean you should stop drinking milk because milk is full of else important nutrients including calcium.    Reading Label Lingo    In addition to requiring that packaged foods contain a Nutrition Facts label, the FDA also regulates the use of phrases and terms used on the product packaging. Here&#039;s a list of usual phrases you may see on your food packaging and what they actually mean.    No fat or blubbery free - Contains less than 1/2 gram of fat per serving Lower or reduced fat: Contains at least 25 percent less per serving than the reference food. (An example might be reduced fat cream cheese, which would have at least 25 percent less fat than original cream cheese.)    Low fat - Contains less than 3 grams of fat per serving.    Lite - Contains 1/3 the calories or 1/2 the fat per serving of the original version or a analogous product.    No calories or calorie free - Contains less than 5 calories per serving.    Low calories - Contains 1/3 the calories of the creative version or a similar product.    Sugar released - Contains less than 1/2 gram of sugar per serving.    Reduced sugar - at least 25% little sugar per serving than the reference food.    No preservatives - Contains no preservatives (chemical or natural).    No preservatives added - Contains no added chemicals to preserve the product. many of these products may contain natural preservatives.    Low sodium - Contains little than 140 mgs of sodium per serving.    No salt or salt released - Contains less than 5 mgs of sodium per serving.    High fiber - 5 g or much per serving (Foods making high-fiber claims must meet the definition for low fat, or the level of total fat essential appear next to the high-fiber claim).    bully source of fiber - 2.5 g to 4.9 g. per serving.    much or added fiber - Contains at least 2.5 g much per serving than the reference food.    With a little practice, you will be able to put your new found knowledge about food labeling to work. Reassess your diet and decide what needs to be changed. Tragically, many people are suffering chronic pain unnecessarily. This in part, due to them not being made aware of the importance of pain management and being shown the uncomplicated tools necessary to achieve it. Lack of knowledge regarding the benefits and side effects of available medication is also a factor.
Many patients associate morphine and methadone with drug addiction and are reluctant to take it due to their belief that it will cause them to become “high” or sedated, this and their attempts to resolute out the pain, results in their pain spirally out of control.  This could be prevented if they were familiar that chronic pain effectively “uses up” medication and that these drugs when taken for the relief of pain associated with cancer, can dramatically reduce some the occurrence and intensity of pain, without causing sedation.
Not long-life after my husband’s terminal cancer diagnosis, I observed that despite his medication, he was in considerable pain and this troubled me greatly - determined to help him, I turned to the internet to learn about the progressive symptoms of his disease, the pain he would experience and methods available to control it.
One of the most important things I learned, was that in order to obtain the best possible pain control – medication must be usurped at regular prescribed times, heedless of whether pain is or isn’t present, effectively keeping in front of the pain.
I scholarly that there are different types of pain and that not all pain responds to the same medication; and how to measure intensity of pain and encouraged Brian to communicate to me - the type of pain he was experiencing and its intensity by using a pain scale.  Brian soon realized the benefits of this - It was an big relief for him- to know that I understood what he was experiencing and more importantly – that I could do something about it.
Despite the queen-size amount of methadone Brian was taking; he remained active and alert, drove his car for eighteen months after diagnosis and was able to continue going fishing, which was the passion of his life.   Keeping him out of pain became the reason for my existence and I was alert in giving him his medication at prescribed times.
There were galore occasions when caring but unread loved ones and friends, same to me.  “Brian does not need for you to be giving him medication at this time – he is not in pain”.  And I would patiently explain to them, that the reason Brian was not in pain, was because the regular medication he was receiving effectively allowed for him to remain in first of it.
Experience has taught me that knowledge is the key, to better quality of life, not only for the cancer patient but for those who care for them.   My understanding of the stages and symptoms of Brian’s disease, allowed for me to be one step ahead of its progression and gave me the opportunity to have medication and later, physical aids such as oxygen, wheelchair etc – on hand BEFORE Brian  necessary them.  This alleviated more of the fear, pain and discomfort he would otherwise have suffered.

Is there any adventure or fun in smoking? Absolutely not! Don’t be fooled by the fun packed advertisements of the cigarette making companies. There is no “taste”, no “fun” and no “adventure” in smoky cigarettes. These are just the slogans of the cigarette making companies which are multiplying their profits at the cost of the precious human lives.
The greedy multi-national multi-billion dollar cigarette manufacturers are killing people quietly without being noticed by anyone. According to the WHO report, every 6.5 seconds a person in the world dies prematurely due to cancer, heart attack, respiratory or some other benignant of tobacco related diseases. No doubt, the tobacco is the fourth most common risk factor for diseases worldwide.
If you are a smoker then think seriously for a moment and decide whether you are mentally OK. I very much doubt because you are spending money on the purchase of an item which is not single risking your life by unintentionally inviting numerous diseases to attack your body but also risking the lives of other people who are forced to inhale second hand smoke, which is more dangerous than smoking. If you smoke inside your house then you also risk the life of your spouse and children. Is it a sapient decision to keep on smoking?
Say no to smoking, if you want to live a normal healthy life free from diseases. Why not take a bold decision NOW and quit smoking immediately! Are you braced to do so?
Tobacco use is going to kill nearly 10 million people each year, mostly in their productive intermediate ages. It is estimated that 75% of these deaths will occur in the developing countries mainly due to the superior number of smokers and lack of medical facilities available there.
Due to lack of knowledge and education, the number of smokers in the developing countries and poor households is growing at an alarming rate. The warning written on the cigarette packets is mostly ignored by the illiterate smokers. It is sad that the average amount spent by poor households on tobacco is nearly the similar as the amount spent on education. A recent study in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil has proved that the more people are educated, the less they smoke.
Your health is your best asset. Protect your life from painful tobacco related diseases. Live a healthy and felicitous life and just say no to smoking.

I never conscious to get fat! I am not exactly sure how it happened, but there I was a 6’2” thirty-four year middle-aged pushing close to 270 pounds. My cholesterol was high, my triclecrides were high, and my blood pressure was high. I was on a direct course for developing diabetes, increased risk of heart disease, increased risk of cancer, and a ton of other diseases related to obesity.
It gets worse. I am a doctor, a sports chiropractor to be exact and my office is located internal a health club. Unfortunately, like-minded many other doctors and else health professional out there, I was not practicing what I was preaching.
Living in sunny Arizona, overland of the endless summer, sooner or later you have to go to the lake, the water park, or you are invited to a cookout and pool party. That is when all my excuses caught up to me. Despite knowing the health risks associated with being overweight, it was the feeling of low self-esteem and embarrassment that finally drove me to action.
So there I was, a doctor, ready to get the weight off. I hate to admit it; I tried many of those quick fix gimmick supplements. I tried a bunch of the fad diets. I bought a bunch of books from all the “weight loss experts”. Sure I would lose a little weight, but I could never stick with the diet for any length of time. When I went unsatisfactory the diet I would gain the weight right back. past tried working my butt unsatisfactory in the gym, running almost every day. That got realistic boring, and I found that running everyday is not the best thing to do when you weigh close to 270 pounds.
There I was again, still no direction, no focus, no drive, nothing to guide me. Frustrated about not getting any results and what to do, I thought I was just going to have to accept that I was fat and deal with it. I gave it a real effort and it did not work.
During all of this, the chiropractor that I bought my office from mentioned that he was beginning a weight loss program at his office, which was based on his experience with triathlon training.  That got my attention. I really wanted to give the program a try, but I lived too far from his office to come in on a regular basis. So I began researching the sport on the Internet.
The much I read about triathlons and triathlon training, the more sense it made to me as a way to help me lose weight. If you are going to do an event that involves swimming, cycling, and running you obviously are going to have to train that way.  The idea about jumping into the pool for an exercise swim was not something I was looking headlong to, and the last thing I wanted to do was to put on a swimsuit and workout. Then I remembered how painful my knees were from running around, and tearful would be easier on my joints.
I also began reading about using heart rate monitors and the affects of exercising at different heart rates. Many of the authors of the books on heart zone training were triathletes themselves, and they gave numerous examples on how using heart zone training you can track your progress and maximize your exercise program.
The more I searched the triathlon Internet sites, the much I became interested in the sport. The people who competed in triathlons looked really fit, it was inspiring. That is when I decided to take my commitment to losing weight to the next level. Weighing close to 270 pounds, I signed up for my early triathlon. Five months away, I was going to do a sprint race, which was a 500m swim, a 15-mile bike, then and a 3-mile run. This was a much shorter distance than many triathlon races, however at the time I could not do even cardinal of the events let unsocial all of them back-to-back.
Using a combination of what I scholarly about heart zone training and from the triathlon Internet sites, I started my program. I my alternated exercise sessions between swimming, cycling, and running. I also did about an hour of weight training a week. This really added a variety to the exercise program, and it never got boring. cardinal day I would just bike, then next maybe run 10 minutes, do a weight session, then bike for 25 minutes. Then the next day I would just swim. The close day I would swim past follow it up with a run. My knees were holding up very well with little, if any pain. At the same time I started eating better, no real diet, antimonopoly common sense stuff, avoiding the sugars and white breads.
The use of the heart rate monitor became a very effective tool. It kept me from working too hard or too easy. The monitor I was using, the Polar 610, also came with software. I was able to download all of my exercise sessions into a computer. Then I was competent to objectively document my exercise sessions. The software was competent to track my calories injured during exercise, my average heart rate, hours spent exercising per week, and much more. aft every exercise session actually looked forward to downloading my session to see how I did.
It also allowed me to exercise at different heart rates. cardinal day I would run at 70% of my maximum heart rate for 10 minutes, past bike at 80% of my maximum heart rate for 10 minutes, then go back to running at 70% for other 10 minutes. The next day I would just bike for 40 min. But I would again exercise at different heart rates, 10 min at 70%, and 5 minutes at 80%, and 10 minutes at 75 , and 5 minutes at 80, and then 10 minutes at 70%. This was a fun way to exercise and I actually began to look forward to exercising, the entire process was less boring.
I kept up with this type of training for five months. On the day of my early triathlon, I was forty pounds lighter.
Some how, some way, I did it. I finished my first triathlon, and as insane as it sounds I really enjoyed myself. I was feeling good about my accomplishment, but I still had some earnest weight to lose. So I found another triathlon race cardinal months later, signed up for it and continued training. The weight just kept coming unsatisfactory and coming off.
At the time of my second race, cardinal months after learning about triathlons, I had lost sixty pounds.
It seemed like every week cardinal of my patients, whom I had not seen for months, would come in for a treatment. The reactions were always the same, doc what the heck happened to you, you look like a totally contrasting person!
I felt like a contrasting person too, I was moving without knee pain, I was happier at work, my relationship with my family was better, I was no longer discomposed to go to a pool party or the water park, in fact I looked headlong to them.
My patients and the members of the health club where my office was settled were constantly asking me about my weight loss. I remember one of the gym members walking up to my desk and looking at my before and after pictures. He bristle-pointed to my fat picture and said, “That is me” past he pointed to my healthy picture and said, “That is the way I want to look”. Wow, what a extraordinary feeling, I could not believe it.
As I am sitting here writing this article, it has been a year since my first triathlon. antimonopoly a few weeks ago, I raced in my third race and I actually managed to finish second in my age group.
As a result of getting into triathlons, not single do I have a radical body, I have a radical life.

Einstein, a genius scientist of the 20th century, and central to the radical energy physics, stated that &amp;#8216;a problem cannot be solved by the same mind set that created it&amp;#8217;. Cancer is a case in point. Cancer is a dis-ease that stems partly from the products of the mechanistic, anthropomorphic and exploitative philosophy at the heart of our culture, which we tend to ignore. Its effective treatment demands that we see ourselves in a different light and act accordingly.
Medicine is extremely lentissimo to move from a mechanical and physical philosophy to a more energetic model, like the Gaian paradigm that values complete life forms as connected. A philosophy of medicine that is over-reliant on logic and narrow mainly to drugs and surgery is fundamental flawed. Acts of logic always rely on analysis, that is breaking down a &amp;#8216;whole&amp;#8217; into its constituent parts, and examining each minutely. Reductionist approaches fail to see the connectivity and relatedness of complete things. As a result this philosophy is offering us &amp;#8216;cures&amp;#8217; to cancer that are often as dangerous and destructive as the disease itself.
Nobel prize-winner Carlo Rubbia maintains that single a billionth of the international is actually made of matter and the rest is ready-made of energy. The new sciences are challenging the way we perceive the world and as a result the way we relate to our bodies. Dr. K. Classical science has reached the end of what it can explain in reductionist terms. Issues such as whether light is a particle or a wave, or whether or not water has a memory (an issue central to the &amp;#8216;proof&amp;#8217; of homeopathy), are awheel modern science to a quantum level that deals with fields of energy. Medical science is still stuck in a precise physical universe, where the representational is to &amp;#8216;excise the lump&amp;#8217; almost regardless of where it came from and individual conditions of the patient and their experiences.
New sciences such as the chaos theories point a way forward into handling the complexities of whole systems that work together, in synergy. Unfortunately our medical systems and practises are still too often supported on philosophy formulated in nonmodern times.
Because all interventions in a medical process have to been &amp;#8216;proven&amp;#8217; as possible (using scientific double-blind testing methods) before doctors will recognise their validity (if they then do the research), medical science mostly marginalises or ignores healing alternatives that can provide only &amp;#8216;anecdotal evidence&amp;#8217;. Multiple simultaneous treatments of different types and &amp;#8216;levels&amp;#8217; adjusted for one patient are un-testable by a reductionist philosophy and therefore ignored by mainstream medicine. In addition to this restrictive pressures force researchers and companies to test their drugs on patients with advanced cancer - when the dis-ease is more more difficult to treat and when the chances of success are modest - this means that potentially useful treatments are discarded as worthless.
Traditional research methodology, or &amp;#8216;quantitative research&amp;#8217; is central to science and other methodologies are not usually acceptable. &amp;#8216;Qualitative research&amp;#8217; is equally, if not more important at the present time in reference to cancer. Other medical systems, such as Chinese or Ayurvedic medicine, Homeopathy or Naturopathy use far subtler tools in some diagnosis and treatment. They are based on seeing the diligent as a whole being and often use multiple interventions on several levels, simultaneously in the treatment of dis-ease. Because they work at the level of an individual patient, and from a different philosophy of medicine, it is almost impossible to analyse them with the tools of reductionist science.
Our ever-present rash of immune attacking diseases calls for a different benignant of response than just drugs and surgery. A new medicine that combines established scientific excellence with traditional, alternative and unbleached treatments is needed. One that recognises humans as feeling, vibrant, energetic, spiritual beings as healthy as physical and mental. There are dramatic developments in the treatment of cancer using energy systems, but information on this is actually suppressed. There is a movement towards an integrative medicine as more orthodox practitioners are starting to join in, led mostly by their patients.
&amp;gt;From an energy point of view, when the human body is weak or unbalanced it oscillates at different frequencies than when it is healthy. This less harmonious frequency shows a state of cellular, energetic imbalance in the body. The carnal body that is weakened in this way often needs help to shift to the necessary frequency, which strengthens the exempt system.
Some experienced medical doctors can make an spontaneous diagnosis based on experience and can sometimes tell in a second or so what ails their patient. Posture, skin condition, nail, teeth and tongue complete give clues, but experienced doctors may also intuitively pick up clues about their patients from energy and vibrational levels in a similar way to a gardener tending plants or a wild animal hunting its prey.
But modern doctors simply do not have the time for the level of attention acknowledged in many complementary and secondary therapies. This is one of the reasons alternatives are much popular than ever. Professional detachment is an essential part of the doctors&amp;#8217; repertoire and it protects them in part from the huge amount of need they encounter in day to day work.
Given the track record of orthodox medical science into whole person medicine, it may well be another cardinal years or so before it is able to assimilate the new quantum sciences in relation to the human body. For those people with cancer now, there are a deliberately narrow range of options available from orthodox medicine.
